| Press article: | In response to growing concerns about the impact of the current Royal Mail postal strikes on the catalogue and home shopping sector, a special open session has just been added to this year’s ECMOD conference schedule. A morning seminar has been arranged on October 7th to help worried businesses understand what they can do if the industrial action continues, particularly in the lead up to Christmas. The event, which is called Mail and Parcel Options - The Lowdown, will outline what alternatives are available, particularly for those with scheduled catalogue and customer magazine mailings or order shipments to consider. The annual ECMOD event is Europe’s largest and most influential forum for today’s catalogue, home shopping and multi-channel businesses. It takes place over two days on October 7th and 8th, at the Earls Court Exhibition Centre. This new session is free to attend and will be held in the Deluxe Theatre on the exhibition floor from 8.30am until 9.10am. A number of expert speakers from a range of alternative mail carriers and specialist consultants in the field, have been lined up to attend. Andrew Goddard from TNT and Graham Cooper of One Post will be on hand to offer advice. Organisers are also pleased to confirm Ilyas Kadodia, Managing Director of postal consultants Integrated DM Ltd, will also give a talk. ECMOD founder and organiser Jane Revell-Higgins said: “This is a very worrying time for many businesses in the sector. We are hearing from more and more companies who are deeply concerned about the effects the Royal Mail strikes are having on their business and what could happen if the action continues. The long term effects of these strikes should not be underestimated. We hope that by adding this unique seminar to our schedule, those attending can pick up some valuable advice and information about what they can do.” Anyone wishing to find out more about the session, or about ECMOD, can contact the team on 01271 866112.
