MBE for CatEx Advisory Board Member Anne Walker

Anne Walker, founder and partner of International Dance Supplies, is to be awarded an MBE for Services to Business.

 

Anne, who is a member of the Catalogue Exchange Advisory Board, started IDS on her own more than thirty years ago, using a £50 loan to buy an industrial sewing machine. The company, which is based in Newton Abbot in Devon, now employs more than sixty staff and serves dance teachers and dance shops, both in the UK and overseas.

 

Commenting on her award, Anne said:  "I am thrilled to have been recognised for “Services to Business”. It came as a great shock and it has been really difficult keeping it a secret for the last few weeks. It is a tremendous honour, but I have only received this award because of the support from my husband and the many people who work for IDS now, or have done so in the past."
