Multi-Channel Sellers Detox For 2010

Posted: 26/01/2010

As the UK officially emerges from recession, businesses in the catalogue and online retail sector are gathering to assess how the past twelve months have affected them and what the year ahead now holds.

The annual Catalogue Exchange ‘New Year Detox’ will be taking place at Twickenham Rugby Club on Thursday 4th February. It will look at who’s up, who’s down, and what individual businesses can do to make sure 2010 is a successful year.

The Detox is organised by the Catalogue Exchange, a not-for-profit trade body which represents and supports more than two hundred businesses in the catalogue and online retail community. The day will feature trading reviews of 2009 and expert insights and advice for the year ahead. Top speakers include:

* Lara Bonney - Abacus: Lara will be reviewing the findings of the Abacus Pre-Christmas Trends report, research that offers the clearest view on the success of direct mail and provides an insight into consumer spending patterns in the lead up to Christmas.

* Chloe Thomas - Indium Web Management: Chloe will be discussing the Online Benchmarks Reports produced by the Catalogue Exchange and Indium, which provide members with a series of online statistics to help them measure their email and web success.

* Heather Gorringe - Wiggly Wigglers: Social networking guru Heather will be leading a session on how businesses can connect directly with the consumer, using tools such as Twitter, Facebook, blogs and podcasts.

* Catherine Campbell - Royal Mail: In a session titled ‘Christmas: All Wrapped Up’, Catherine will be assessing the recent festive trading season, across the industry.

Dara O’Malley, Managing Director of House of Bath and Catalogue Exchange Advisory Board vice-chairman, says: “Now that we have steered a course through the choppy seasonal waters that is Christmas, now is the time to reflect on what went well and what could have been done better. The New Year Detox gives businesses a great opportunity to come together to contrast and compare our experiences so that we can make sure our plans for 2010 give us a great platform for the future.

“It is very easy in our businesses, which operate at a distance from our customers, to focus entirely on our own issues and not take into account the wider market experience. The Detox gives us a much wider perspective that should benefit all of us."

Tickets for the New Year Detox are still available. To book, or for further information, call the Catalogue Exchange team on 0871 8555 545 or visit www.catalogueexchange.co.uk.
